Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museums 2010 Cast Iron Sculpture Workshop Project Layout.

This workshop has taken place at the Open Air Museum of Steel Sculpture in Coalbrookdale England for the past 9 years. The Director has decided to end the workshops to pursue a life in the States. She and many other artists from the States and England would love to keep the energy of this workshop alive and continue it at Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum in the USA. The duration of the workshops is 4 weeks and 10 artists will sign up for a one-week session at a time. It is open to national and international artists. There has been expressed interest in both UK and US artists already. The history of iron is present in both Museums. The industrial revolution started next to the Museum in England and iron, coal, limestone, and timber was so rich in Greene Co IN back in 1841 Andrew Downing built a blast furnace and called it Richland Furnace that started the now extinct town of “Furnace” flourished due to the founding of the Richland blast furnace.  One of Sculpture Trails property lines is Richland Creek. The extinct town of Furnace flourished due to the founding of the Richland blast furnace. So there is a iron connection with both Museums historical past.
